Goal
The goal of the Public Education Programme is to sensitize the public to the safe use, benefits and risks associated with the products of modern biotechnology (genetically modified organisms).
Main Objectives
The main objectives of the program are:
- To develop a Public Awareness Programme in Biosafety
- To deliver information to identified public
- To raise the level of awareness and knowledge about biotechnology in the general public
- To evaluate approaches used
Who does the Program target?
The programme targets consumers, farmers, seed importers, students, teachers and the general public.
DURATION AND FUNDING
The programme is funded by the Environmental Foundation of Jamaica through the Jamaica Society of Agricultural Scientists and will run from March 2001 to November 2002.
